{"id":462,"date":"2016-06-01T10:56:57","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T10:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessmole.com\/?p=462"},"modified":"2023-11-22T14:05:36","modified_gmt":"2023-11-22T14:05:36","slug":"chemical-industry-getting-small-businesses-ready-win-regulatory-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.businessmole.com\/chemical-industry-getting-small-businesses-ready-win-regulatory-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemical industry getting small businesses ready to win regulatory challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With two years to go before new laws impact businesses, the chemical industry has urged companies to start preparing now.<\/p>\n<p>REACH \u2013 the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals \u2013 requires chemicals which are manufactured in or imported to Europe in quantities between 1 and 100 tonnes per year to be registered before 1 June 2018, a change that will mostly, but not exclusively, impact small businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cia.org.uk\/\">Chemical Industries Association<\/a> which represents chemical manufacturers of all sizes located across the UK, has led work on helping small businesses get ready. The Association\u2019s subsidiary business REACHReady has full details and CIA has been working with Government and others to develop joint advice, as well as supporting the European Chemicals Agency in its awareness efforts.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Silvia Segna, CIA\u2019s REACH Executive said \u201cTwo years may seem like a long time, but it is important that companies start to prepare now. Waiting till later may lead to chemicals not being able to be registered causing disruption to their manufacture and\/or import with potential knock-on effects on businesses and product availability.
