Composite manufacturer Permali Gloucester<\/a> has won a major contract to supply armoured materials to General Dynamics European Land Systems<\/a> which will be a key component for\u00a0589 AJAX vehicles for use by\u00a0British Army<\/a>.<\/p>\n The contract worth \u00a315 million will support 34 jobs at the Gloucester based company\u00a0who have been established since 1937 supplying defence, aerospace, rail and automotive sectors.<\/p>\n The company recently undertook a substantial research and development programme, and also invested \u00a3300,000 in new machinery to manufacture the newly developed materials.<\/p>\n AJAX are state-of-the-art medium armoured fighting vehicles mainly used for reconnaissance.<\/p>\n Director of Land Equipment and the UK\u2019s Defence Equipment and Support organisation, Major General Robert Talbot Rice, said: \u201cThe Ajax vehicle is at the heart of the UK\u2019s new Strike Brigades, giving our Armed Forces the ability to respond rapidly and effectively across a huge variety of terrains. The signing of this contract means that Permali will have a key role in supplying world class protection for the British Army\u2019s fleet of next-generation fighting vehicles.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Colin MacAdam, Managing Director at Permali commented \u201cThis is a seven-year contract and the result of a great deal of hard work by many employees. This vehicle sets the standard for the use of the latest technologies \u2013 there were many new requirements that had to be achieved.
